Nice article Gil, sounds like fun except for the up for 24 hours after getting there, cold weather, lost runner and things trying to bite sting ... well you get the idea.

In short it sounds a lot like half a weekend of Civil Air Patrol Emergency Services training.

Thanks to the whole crew from Highland Lakes area sounds like you have fun and a good shakedown for the trailer too.

Hi Kathy, thanks for sending it onward. Every little piece of an idea can potentially fit into the puzzle somewhere.

Gil, This is very good and thought provoking. I will give serious thought to the questions you ask. Have already sent your post to one other person and am thinking of others who need to read it. Wish we had more judges like you. Appreciate you.

Agree 100% that content is #1 driver. My SEO exercise here was mainly as a learning device as I certainly don't live or die by how many hits I get -- although it is sometimes a kick to get a big spike.

My experience has been that content drives better search results than extreme efforts at seo. In a blog, weekly posts with something new and with relevant links to short interest YouTube content works well. Run the frequency up and people start viewing it as background noise at best and spam at worst. Run the frequency down and they start loosing the immediate recall that your posts are usually interesting enough to spend time to read and sometimes interesting enough to send friends a link for them to enjoy, learn from or be outraged by (different strokes for different folks). With my own blog the sweet spot on frequency is once/week but it is hard to keep that up and keep the quality/engaging factors high.

Great post. I tell the story that I grew up with my tail (axx) about a 1/2 inch off the road in a car traveling 100 mph. Every crack, bump and bulge in that road took a bit off. I realized early on that in this life it is YOU that you need to count on. YOU need to make a difference. And, I DON'T mean protesting to take someone else's ride or money, or house. This country is great when everyone stands on their own. When that happens the fabric of our society becomes as strong as any bullet proof vest. TOO many feel that they should be given that life without working for it. Or, they believe everyone should have it without any effort. And, who can blame them? With a political class that tells them if they demand it - they will get it. The time is now to stand and let those who believe "something for nothing" is real is a lie. If you're not standing on your own - you're likely part of the problem.

[...] It huffed and it puffed and it … by Gil Jones Musings of Captain Justice There they are, finally. At 8:22 there were only three of us present and ready to go. I made my usual early appearance and was able to take my time getting ready. What to wear? Temps are going to vary but right now I’m cold. Yes, John, I know that I will warm up as I ride but right now I’m cold. Light, sleeveless windbreaker … no, go with the full windbreaker. I can always take it off. … [...]
