Evernote: A very most special super program that gets rid of yellow stickies, or better, the grease pencil notes on the screen! Evernote’s site banner:

And it really does all of that. And does it well. I am terribly torn (read “confused”) at present between Evernote which I’ve been using, and a very different paradigm presented by PersonalBrain. I think I’ll be using both but I have to be careful about that.

I like EN so much I bought the premium membership, partly to help the product with my $40. They’re winning awards and have recent funding, but it’s still a start-up.

  1. I use both apps, but PersonalBrain is my main tool for organizing the more important content in my life. However, I find Evernote is great for the more random stuff, such as keeping records of conversations, storing copies of onlne receipts, shopping lists… and I take a lot of snapshots with my phone.

For my day-to-day routine, I find that PB is more robust. I like that I can easily see linkages (relationships) between thoughts, and that I can set alarms for action items. I like the flexibility fo being able to classify with combinations of thought types, link types and tags.

  3. My very dear friend Virginia (age 84) is a lifelong collector of early American antiques. Her home is San Antonio contains museum quality items. During my visit with her last week – she wanted me to look at her new collection. It was her new and updated records of her collection. Evernote —every one of em. She had completed 620 entries so far. Pictures, dates, cost, etc. She showed me how easy and wonderful this tool is to use. And she is 84! A friend did help her take the pictures as it involved moving things and climbing. Inspirational glimpse into what is possible if we keep learning. How blessed her kids are too.
